I dont know why a link with the administrative tools was created in the
programs menu. Then I tried to move it and created a copy in a subfolder of
that menu. Now I cannot delete either because it says "It's a windows system
folder and cannot be deleted" I dont need them because I can access the
admin tools from the control panel. How do I delete those folders or where
do I change it status from "windows system folder" to "regular folder"

thanks

I guess I also learned that the admin tools "folder" that I have in the
start menu is a link to the admin tools folder, so deleting stuff from
there, would cause to delete the links in the control panel.
What I want to do is to get rid of the link in the start menu and only keep
the link the control panel.

To change the Start menu settings

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar &
Start Menu.
Click the Advanced tab.
In Start Menu Settings, select or clear the options you
want to turn on or off.

This option Does this
Display Administrative Tools Adds the Administrative Tools
menu to the Programs menu.

okay thanks, that worked.
Now I have other problem. When I tried to "move" that folder I created a
copy of it in some subfolder of the programs menu.
I was able to rename it, but I cannot delete it. Any ideas?

thanks

If by "link" you mean that Administrative Tools is
displayed on the Sart Menu, that is a setting for the
start menu that you can turn off. But DO NOT!! delete
any "Windows System" files. The ever important warning
of "If you don't know what it does, don't mess with it!"
applies to operating system files (that is why they are
hidden by default)
To turn off Display Administrative Tools:
- Right click the task bar
- Click Properties
- Click the Advanced tab (this is where you customize the
start menu)
- Un check "Display Administrative Tools"

Yea, I got that turned off (I dont know why I forgot it was just a setting).
The problem that was presented later is that before knowing about that
setting I "moved" that administrative tools folder to somewhere inside the
programs menu, which caused that I got a copy of the folder inside one of my
submenues. However, that folder was also tagged as windows system folder
(because it was copy of the admin tools folder displayed in the start
menu), so I couldnt delete it. I made my way around using the command prompt
to delete it (and yes, I was sure that folder wasnt going to affect my
system).
Now, well, I have everything solved, but I got the curiosity to find out how
where windows tags the system folders...
