Deleting a shortcut from my desktop

I acciedentally copied a programme on my list and created a desktop icon. It
will now not allow me to delete this icon as it says it cannot find it. I
tried uninstalling the programme, but that did not help. Any ideas?
 
Yes tried that, didnt work either, but a friend suggested I try refreshing
the desktop and that worked perfectly. But ty Mac for trying :)
 
Refresh eh? So simple ;-)
