I deleted a shared folder from "my network places". I later decided I wanted
to share that same folder and so I enabled sharing of that folder again. It
does not now appear in "my network places. If I give it another name, it
will appear in "my network places. Why can I not again find it in "my network
places. Is it in fact being shared and if so where is it? Thanks so much.

Shared folders don't always appear automatically in My Network Places
on every computer. To add a shared folder to My Network Places on a
particular computer, open My Network Places, click "Add a network
place" and follow the prompts.
To tell if a folder is being shared, use the computer on which the
folder is actually stored. Navigate to the folder through My Computer
or Windows Explorer. A shared folder has a picture of a hand in its
icon. You can right-click the folder and click Sharing and Security
to turn sharing on or off for that folder.
I'm not sure which of these two things you did:
1. Un-share the folder: on the computer where the folder is actually
stored, right-click the folder, click Sharing and Security, and
un-check "Share this folder on the network". Doing this doesn't
delete the folder from My Network Places on any computer.
2. Delete a shared folder from My Network Places: on any computer,
open My Network Places, right-click the folder, and click Delete.
Doing this doesn't unshare the folder, and it doesn't delete it from
My Network Places on any other computer.
