Hi,

I'm new to Vista Mail.

I've misoelled a name/email address that now keeps dropping down in the To:
field when I type in other names that are close to it. It's not a contact,
so I can't delete it from my contacts list.

For instance, a real name might be (e-mail address removed), but I entered
(e-mail address removed). Now, when I type in bill, both drop down. How do I get
rid of the (e-mail address removed). Again, this one is not in my contacts list.

Thanks,

You will just have to wait it out.
Windows Mail remembers the last 29 recipients you sent mail to.
Eventually that bad address will drop off the remembered list.

Oh, geez. I don't have 29 unique email addys that I send to. I don't even
have 29 friends. <g>

Is there a place in the registry that holds the most recent 29 addys?

Yes, but it is not obvious how to edit that information. Perhaps deleting
the whole key would be the quickest way to do it.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses

Outlook 2003 has an automatic completion for any email address that you try
to type into the To or CC fields. This feature does not pull from the
contacts or address book, because you may have tried to email somebody that
wasn't in your contact list, and it will still add that to the auto complete
list.

The problem comes in when you put in a bad address, and then every time you
go to type in the email address, the incorrect one appears in the auto
complete list.

To fix this problem, there are two ways around this. The easiest way is this:

Start typing in the address that shows up incorrectly.
Hit the Down arrow key to select the auto completed address.
Hit the Delete key to delete the auto complete address
The other way is by opening the profile folder and deleting the .nk2 file.

Open up windows explorer, and paste the following into the address bar:

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook

Delete the Outlook.NK2 file that you find in this folder.

This does not apply to Windows Mail.
Outlook issues should be posted in the Outlook newsgroup.
