Deleting a block of text

L

Lynda

I am using Word 2002 and up until a day or two ago, I
could select text and hit the delete key and it would
delete but for some strange reason it has started asking
me in the status bar whether I want to delete the block
and I now have to hit the "Y" key to get it to delete.
Have I unintentionally changed something to make it ask me
before deleting the block? I am frustrated as I have
searched a reference book on Word 2002 I have and the
onscreen help and cannot find how to fix this problem.
Can anyone help me?

Also, another problem is that CTRL+HOME does not get me to
to the top of the document but I have learned that
CTRL+SHIFT+HOME will do it. I am a former Word Perfect
6.1 user and am so used to using CTRL+HOme to go to the
top of the document that this is also frustrating. Any
way I can make it respond with CTRL+HOME?

Thanks for your help.

Jay answered 1).

For 2), go into Tools | Customize, Keyboard.... And redefine the shortcut as
you would like.
