Deleteing unwanted Programme Files

I've just re-installed Win XP on a reformatted disk and I am trying to dump
all the unwanted and unasked for crap which MS seem to think nobody can do
without. Some examples are Front Page, Movie Maker and MS Messenger, which
have folders in the Programme Files Directory. There is nothing, or very
little, in these folders but they won't delete and there is an error message
saying something about the programme being used by someone else so it can't
be deleted.

I have tried turning of the System Restore in case that was causing it but
to no avail. I have un-installed the ones which I can from the 'Remove MS
Components' tab in the Control Panel but that doesn't seem to work either.

Any ideas?

Some MS services can be uninstalled from MS components menu, but they are
still operating system files.Deleting them can/could/will corrupt
xp,also,programs
such as movie-maker are not even listed in add/remove.Basically,unchecking
them from components will cut down on "running services" some disk space,
other than that leave the rest alone.....

Thanks Andrew.

You are probably right. Best to leave Windows files alone, who knows what
the unforeseen repercussions could be. :-)
