deleted program, now address bar requires "http://"

I unintentionally installed a search toolbar that always replaced my beloved
google toolbar with every IE window opened. I went to "add/remove programs"
and uninstalled a program called "Search Toolbar". This stopped the annoying
toolbar from appearing but now I have to type "http://www.*******.com" in
order to access a site. I still get the drop down list when typing an
address, i.e. type "goo" and the list shows "google", "www.google.com", etc.
Also, the google toolbar wont work. When I rt click on the toolbars, "Google"
is unchecked in the list, but selecting it has no effect. I tried to
uninstall Google Toolbar via "add/remove programs" but no uninstall procedure
is initiated when I click "remove".
How can I return things to normal?

Repairs the corrupted or altered (spyware) HTTP prefixes.
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/RepairDefaultPrefix.reg

Right-click on the file select "merge" to your Registry, reboot and post back
your findings.

Thanks for the help but I didnt end up needing it. I realized that I hadnt
tried resetting IE to defaults so I did that and the address bar works fine
now. After that, I reinstalled the google toolbar and it works too.
