Deleted Items question

When I empty my Deleted Items folder it deletes every item permanently. How
do I change settings so that when I empty the folder it moves the deleted
items to another file/folder where I can access them later? I do not have an
exchange server. Help!!!

That's the idea, items deleted from other folders end up in deleted, unless
you permanently delete, there are no extra settings
 
What you might consider doing it setting up autoarchive on that folder so that it deletes items after so many days -- however many days they might be usefulf or you to recover.
