deleted files automatically copied

whenever i delete multiple files at a time (more than 3),
copies of all of the files are created and listed in the
same directory/folder. this is not specific to any
program. any suggestions? thanks!

He's moving his mouse, which causes the files to be dragged, and 'copy' is
the default action.
