Deleted e-mail messages popped back into Outlook 2000

Good day,
When my girlfriend opened Outlook (2000) today to check her messages, over
1600 deleted messages from as far back as July popped up in her Inbox! She
regularly empties her Deleted Items folder, so I'm at a loss as to where and
how these messages have reappeared. Any suggestion to correct this problem
would be greatly appreciated!

You sure they were deleted msgs and not old msgs downloaded from the server?

DL,
That's another possibility. Verizon is her email provider, so I checked to
see if the messages were also showing up in her webmail account and they are.
So this may be a problem with verizon and not Outlook 2000. Thanks for you
