delete underlines in form boxes

how do i delete underlines that are already in form boxes- have tried all the
usual ways- nothing works

lines can be

- underlines from Format | Font --> delete by selecting the characters
and hitting CTRL-Space (if they are not part of a paragraph style) or by
unchecking in Format | Font

- manual line elements (AutoForms) from the Draw toolbar, selecting and
deleting via the white arrow on said toolbar

- borders to a paragraph or table cell (deleting through Format |
Borders and Shading)

To clarify the second possibility, in English they're called AutoShapes.
