Delete Partition Question

On my primary (disk 0) HD, I have 3 partitions; a 45 meg FAT, a 37gig
(system) NTFS, and a 3 gig NTFS. All are "healthy." The 3 gig contains the
remnants of a dual boot setup which I no longer want/need. It shows as
"deleteable"

I understand if I delete this third partition, all data in this volume will
be lost. Which is precisely what I want.

My questions are will it be merged into the existing system partition when I
delete it, and/or can or must that be done subsequently? I assume it's just
wasted space otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

The alternative is to perform a "Clean Install" of Windows XP.

it would remain as wasted space.
microsoft does not provide any parition adjusting software.
you need to use a 3rd party program to merge or extend the partitions.

there are several available.
do a google search for disk partitioning.,
