Delete mail with strike line

Hi,
I am using outllook 2003 to access email server by using IMAP protocol.
When I deleted readed mail by pressing delete key then it marked the email
with strike line. Why does not deleted email go to trash folder directly
and how can I removed those email with strike line (delete emails). Any
tips will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Johnny Chow

IMAP accounts are often shared accounts. So, when you "delete" a message it
remains so that others can access it.
To permanently remove such messages choose Edit | Purge Deleted Messages.
I place Purge Deleted Messages on my standard toolbar so it is easier to
access.

That's how IMAP is *supposed* to work. You deleting a message only
changes its status. It does not physically purge the message from the
server. The idea is that another user of the same account can still
read that message (and that other user might be you where you read it at
work and then later you want to read it again at home or when
travelling). If you want the delete-marked message removed from the
IMAP server then purge it. Might be easiest to customize the toolbar to
add the Purge button.

If you want to know how IMAP4 is supposed to work, read
ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc3501.txt to see what the EXPUNGE
command does.
