delete key

All of a sudden my delete key will not delete with out a
prompt on the status bar-no or yes which i have to click
and then hit delete again. Any ideas?
 
Tools > options > general > uncheck the two Word Perfect keys.

Is this Word 2003? There seems to be a rash of this sort of thing (settings
in tools > options changing apparently of their own accord) going on at the
moment.
