Delete in registry but comes back

I deleted entries in the Run, runonce, and they keep comming back. I have
administrative rights, but still will not delete. I went even in safe mode it
did delete but when I logged in normally they came back.

Scaned for viruses,malware,spyware nothing.

I cannot even remove entries in msconfig also.

I used a program called tuneup ultilities and when I use the regedit in that
program it says the registry is write protected.

I want to delete those entries because the entries aren't used and keep
getting errors on startup.

Can anyone help???

So you answered your Question * tuneup ultilities* which came with Norton,
you will have Control on your HDD while this Utility is Runing.
Try to Disable or Read on how to configure it to give you Permission to be
able to edit your Registry.
HTH.
Please let us know your result.

The tuneup utility program I used is not the norton one. from www.tune-up.com.

I just want to know why no matter what I do I cannot remove anything in the
run / runonce and msconfig.

Steve,
can you tell us what Av is runing on your system and Anti-spyware
Applications.
Are you sure you have the full privileges as Admin to login and change/Edit
on this computer.
Are you have been ablle in the past to do so?.

running nod32, ad-aware, and spybot.

Yes I have full administrative rights.

Was able to do this in the past. The only thing I did recently was install
IE7, don't know if that has anything to do with my problem.

thanks for the help

Try system Restore to an earlier Date before IE7 and see if that will solve
the problem.
If not we know that there is something else to look at.
How about Spybot S&D is it runing in Tea Timer Mode?.
Thank you.

Restoring to before IE7 did not work. Spybot not running in Tea Timer Mode.

Thanks

Hi steve,
I did have a quick look at Tune-up, it does have a cleanup Feature did you
try to do your deletion through Tune-up.
Try Tune-up because it is the only Application I can think of is preventing
you from doing what you want to do.
Or try to uninstll the Tune-up and see if you could delete your entries.
HTH.

Hi Nass

I figured it out. When you metioned the tea-timer mode for spybot, it
reminded me that I'm using the ad-watch monitor, for some reason it got
switch to the "automatic" setting and it was stopping me from modifying the
registration instead of asking to accept or block the changes.

thanks for the help.
