Delayed Write Failure... help

My computer locks up after receiving the below message. I normally can use
the computer for 5-10 minutes before receiving this message. The message does
not appear after any one action. I can just turn the computer on and I will
receive the message. ANy suggestions????

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file c:\System Volume
Information\catalog.wci\00010010.ci. The data has been lost. This error may
be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection.
Please try to save this file elsewhere.
 
99% of the time the failure is due to the hd and/or its controller.You might
download the MS-DOS hd chk utility from the mfg,download to a MS-DOS
formatted floppy,then boot to floppy,run the tests.....
