Delayed Write Failed Error Message, Please help.

IN running XP and just browsing the internet, I keep getting this message:

Delayed Write Faiked : Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
c:/path name. The data has been lost.......

The mesage continues to say that it may be faulty hardware which I don't
believe to be the caes. If it is a harrd drive issue, how can I check? I want
to identify this problem and solve it. Please help. Thanks
 
Hi,

Check the controller cable (not the drive itself) in Device Manager (Control
Panel/System properties/Hardware tab). See if you are running in DMA mode.
It should be set to use DMA if available, but look to the line regarding the
actual mode in use. If not using DMA, then you may want to recheck the
cabling to see if it is fully seated. Otherwise, you might want to download
and run a drive diagnostic from the web site of the manufacturer as this may
be an early indicator of a potential failure.
