delayed logon problems

Standalone windows xp home edition box. After providing
the login credentials takes about a minutes to load into
windows.

The box had userenv (event id: 1524 and 1517) errors but
I fixed those with Microsoft's UPHCLEAN (spelling?)
utility. The event log isn't reporting anymore problems,
however, it takes a minute or so to go from the logon
prompt to the desktop. Computer has no viruses or any
other malicious software, msconfig only has the essential
stuff.

Any help is much appreciated.

Use Task Manager & see if anything is using a lot of cpu while you ar
waiting .
