Delayed (?) email

How could this happen?

On June 29 (Last Wed), User A sent an email to User B. User B didn't
recieve it until July 6 (7 days later).

- In User A's "Sent" folder, the email shows it was Sent on 6/29. The
printed copy of User B's recieved email says it was Sent on 7/6.

- The msg in User's A "Sent" folder has the same Msg ID as the msg in User
B's Inbox.

- During those 7 days, User A only sent 1 other email (on 6/30 to a
different internal user ("User C")). It also was not delivered until 7/6.
They both arrived at the exact same time.

- Both messages appear in Exchange's Msg Tracking Center as being sent on
7/6 with no delay.

- Both messages happened to have been web pages that User A had sent by
email.

- All three users use Outlook in cached Exchange Mode.

- All 3 users are internal.

So I'm guessing that those two emails got stuck in User A's Outbox for 6 or
7 days. But:
I wish there was a way that I could prove that.
I havn't been able to reproduce it.
And if they WERE stuck in Outbox, how can I make sure that doesn't happen
again?

Thanks!

Here's what I am thinking. Was User A on vacation on the 1rst (for 4th of
July weekend). Is it possible with what you are thinking that they sent the
emails and closed outlook before they where sent? Then arrived back and
opened outlook which sent it then. I have seen it done when people send a
quick email before they leave for the weekend and close outlook to soon. They
get the "message in outbox" prompt, but choose to close anyways because they
want to leave right away. Just a thought.

Yes, I think your on the right track.

I can now replicate the issue. If I have Outlook closed, and then while
browsing w/ IE, if I send a web page (File-Send-Send Page by Email), it only
APPEARS to be sent. But actually it won't be sent at least until I open
Outlook. And at least once a msg seemed to be stuck in Outbox until I
opened it an clicked on send again. In that case, my Sent folder showed an
earlier time than when it actually left my PC.

I'm still trying to understand the different variables. But mainly I need
to find out if there's a way that the email will be sent immediately w/out
the User having to manually open Outlook.

So if you or anyone could clarify the issue for me, I'm all ears.

Outlook MUST be open in order for a message to actually send.
