Delay when switching between Word documents

I've been using Word since day 1 (or so?).

My latest laptop has Office 2007 and Vista. I have two word files open all
the time and am working between them. When I alt-tab back and forth there is
a delay, and the mouse icon turns to the round loading icon Office uses.
While this is only a 1-2 second delay, it is still very annoying and
effecting my overall work.

Is there any way to speed this up? performance options to disable all the
"Mac" graphics? Or am I stuck going back to office 2003?

Thanks for any advice. (Btw, still not used to the new toolbars, they are
much slower then office 2003, shame windows decided to design this around
newbies)

Switching is instant here so my guess is that you have a virus checker
add-in that slows the change or the document has links to external sources
which are being refreshed.

And no you cannot lose the ribbon and revert to 2003 format.
