Delay in IE6 starting

After starting IE there is a delay of several minutes before the browser
window opens. The iexplore.exe process starts right away. I've run updated
Adaware, Spybot, and McAfee virus scans without solving the problem.

Any ideas as to the cause or how I might troubleshoot this? I can't
associate the onset of the problem with any installs or other events.

I removed the Google plug-in and now the delay is gone. I still don't know
why it started when it did.
