defrag won't run

Win xp home,
Defragmenter stops running due to a set of files that it says are corrupted
in Temp internet\content IE5 The files either end with JS (Java Script) or
swf (Swish File).
The thing that baffles me is when I try to find the offending files they are
nowhere to be found, I have looked in all the Temporary folders, History
folders etc etc but cannot find them.
When I run a search for the files I find them but cannot delete them.

I have tried deleting all temp files and rebooting the system then running
defragmenter but It still hangs on me telling me that I have corrupt files.

Run Error checking first! Then try to run Defrag again.
Defrag has problems with corrupted files.
=====================

Start | Run | Type: cmd | OK |

Type: fsutil dirty query C: | ENTER

This will report whether the dirty bit is set.
Volume C: is not dirty
Volume C: is dirty
[[If a volume's dirty bit is set, this indicates that the file system may be
in an inconsistent state. The dirty bit can be set because the volume is
online and has outstanding changes, because changes were made to the volume
and the computer shutdown before the changes were committed to disk, or
because corruption was detected on the volume. If the dirty bit is set when
the computer restarts, chkdsk runs to verify the consistency of the volume.
Every time Windows XP starts, Autochk.exe is called by the Kernel to scan
all volumes to check if the volume dirty bit is set. If the dirty bit is
set, autochk performs an immediate chkdsk /f on that volume. Chkdsk /f
verifies file system integrity and attempts to fix any problems with the
volume.]]

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Scandisk is now Error-checking (chkdisk).
Open My Computer, double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
Right click your hard drive | Properties.
On the Tools tab, under Error-checking, click Check Now.
Under Check disk options, check both boxes.
You have to *reboot* for Error-checking to run.

For a peek at the log.
Start | Run | Type: eventvwr | OK
Look in Application | Listed as Information
under Winlogon, Event 1001

No, none of these commands work, the cmd prog says that it doesn't recognise
these as an internal or external command. I ran error checking and it found
5 broken links that it converted back to files. However when I ran defrag
again it then said that it was locked. I ran a google search on locked Hard
drives and found a utility that unlocked my drive and allowed me to run a
full defrag. The system is running very well since I did this.

Thanks Wes
