Defrag generating Error log on mmc.exe

I am at a loss. I am running Windows 2000 Pro and when I
go to execute "defrag" I get "mmc.exe is generating an
error log". I attempted the add/remove suggestion on this
site and that did not work.
I am also getting "weird" errors on executing some games
on the web, that I never have gotten before.
I have all the reccomend critical updates installed also
and explorer 6.

If you can help me out with this, I would really
appreciate it.

can you do it in safe mode? If so, it could be a driver issue.

also, have you run chkdisk to search for bad sectors? Maybe defrag is
encountering something on the disk it doesn't like.

are you running from the MMC GUI interface or from the command line
("C:>defrag c:")? The command line utiliy may give better results.

As far the weird errors in online internet gaming.. what are they?
