Hi,

While trying to run Defrag on a desktop running Windows 2000 Pro, it halts
at 42% with the following message:

(c:) engine connection lost

The instruction at "xxxxx....." referenced memory at "xxxx...". The memory could
not be "written". Click ok to terminate program.

The error is then followed by mmc.exe has generated errors.....

Has anyone dealt with this problem? Any advice would be appreciated!

"Recommendation :
As explained above, [click link and ctrl+find mmc.exe], it is an integral
part of Windows 2000/XP and opens up when you are using any Administrative
Tool, that is why it shows in the Task List. However sometimes, because of
bugs, it remains in the Task List even though you have no management window
open anywhere. When it does it consumes memory (but not CPU time) - you can
End Task on it."
