Can I disable windows defender and not mess up anything else.
Never used it in XP and never had a malware or spyware problem there.
All I ever used was AVG Free and Adware Personal SE.

Hi,

Yes, you can. Click start, type MSCONFIG and hit <enter>. You'll find it
listed on the startup tab, just uncheck it and click apply/ok.
