Defender and Wireless Mouse Not Working

aAs soon as a downloaded Defender I strted having problems with my Microsoft
Wireless Intellimouse Exploreer II. The mouse icon would stick to one spot
and then when I tried to move the mouse the icon would stay but I could tell
the mouse was doing something but I could not see it. This happened after I
installed Defender and then quit when I uninstalled Defender. Any thoughts
on this?

Interesting--It'd be great to also post this in appcompat, if you get the
time.

If you reinstall Windows defender and this comes back, I'd leave it off for
the time being. I've only got one user with a wireless mouse, and I mostly
work with her machine remotely--but she hasn't complained. This would be a
new 4000 series wireless keyboard and mouse--not sure how that relates to
yours.

If this was happening to me, I would check if there is a newer driver
for the wireless mouse available.

I have had the same problem with an MS wireless mouse and defender. I
downloaded defender a couple of days ago and after the download my ms
wireless mouse began having problems. I'm not at home right now so I can't
give the version of the mouse although I can say it is about 1 year old. It
is the mouse keyboard combination. What it started to do was not recognize
left mouse clicks, single or double. It would take many clicks to get the
systems to respond. When I changed over to a logi USB wire mouse all
functionality returned. Further, while the logi mouse was connected the MS
wireless mouse would work fine. As soon as I disconnect the Logi mouse the MS
mouse would return to its faulty state.

I blieve I have the latest mouse driver although I'll look again.

I removed defender and returned to a computer state before I installed
defender where MS Anitspyware was installed. As soon as I did this the MS
wireless mouse began to work again.

I haven't re-installed defender to see if the problem returns although I
expect that it will. I'll do that, check on my the mouse model number and
check the driver and get back. I'm really posting this for MS techs who may
be lurking.

I solved my problem. When I checked for an upgrade to my mouse driver I found
a new one dated Dec 1/05. My old driver was5.20.413.0 and is now 5.50.661.0.
I have reloaded Defender and all seems to be working well. To complete this
I'm using a ms optical wireless mouse version 2.0A

Excellent--thanks for posting this--it may well help others with the same
issue. The only wireless mouse/keyboard user I work with is not having this
trouble, but her setup is new in the last few months, so it may be both
different equipment and the newer drivers.
