Default view using Outlook 2003

I'm having a problem that's more of a nusance than anything else, when I open
Outlook it always sorts the from column and highlights the last email in the
coulmn. I'd prefer it be sorted by date with the newest message at the top of
the list, but it reverts back to sorting the from coulmn, any hints are
greatly appreciated.
 
Click on the Date field header to sort, click again to reverse sort. Check
your View>Arrange by selections to make sure Date is selected.
