Default View for Opening PowerPoint Files

On my computer at work when I click the open file icon I always get the
Preview view with a list of files at the left and a preview window at the
right. I want the default view to be the List view without having to open up
the drop down menu for Views and change it each and every time. Our Help
Desk did not have the answer immediately, so I am posting it to see if anyone
has a suggestion. Thank you.
