Default value in CF Excel 2007

Hey gang,

I am setting up CF on a list of numbers. However, after I apply my first
rule(ex. greater than $10,000) and go back to set a second rule or icon, I
get a default value. In my case, it's $7422 and it throws off my entire cf. I
have deleted all of my spreadsheets cf rules and I still get that amount.
What's worse is that even after I type in a rule, future CF follows the
default amount and not mine.

Why is CF doing this?? Is there a way to stop the default value from coming
up?

Not sure I understand what you mean by a default value.

In conditional formatting, your formula bar is blank. If you click the
drop-down box, you may see a value such as the amount in the cell you are on,
but that isn't required. You should be able to just enter the values you
desire.

Let me walk you thru it:

I set a list of prices( $300 ; $3,900 ; $4,800 ; $1,200 ;$200 $220 ) and
begin my CF. However, when I click on the Greater than option, its dialog box
opens and I am presented with a value of $2,500 in the formula box underneath
"Format cells that are Greater Than". I check my list and I have no numbers
that represent that value and nothing was inputed. This value just shows up.

Hopefully that clarifies my question.

Ahh so you must have 2007. It looks like it picks some value sort of close to
the average, but not quite. Wish I had an answer as to why it puts the value
there. Seems like it just guesses what you may want to put in there. At least
it can be overwritten, but I do agree it is odd.
