Default User renamed

I am supporting a small office.

When the user logs in, he logs in with (let's call it) TUser but when I look
in Documents and Settings there isn't a TUSER folder. Tuser exists in User
Accounts, however. When i activate Windows Explorer I notice that the folder
that is open is one that is called something else (i.e. not Tuser but some
other name like Charlie). Normally, the user folder is the one that is
expanded when I open Windows Explorer OR , at least, a folder with the user
name exists. In this case, it does not.

The odd part is that while Charlie folder opens with TUSER, Charlie is not a
user listed in User Account. Also, I normally see a folder called Default
User. This folder does not exist in Documents and Settings, either.

How do I resolve this for the owner? He wants to login as TUSER.

Hi,

First, set folder options to see hidden and system folders to see the
default user. Go to the Control Panel/Folder Options, and on the View tab,
set the options so you can see hidden and system files. Specifically:

Enable (check) "Display the contents of system folders"
Enable (check) "Show hidden files and folders"
Disable (uncheck): "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)"

I also recommend that you disable (uncheck) "hide extensions for known file
types".

As to the issue, I suspect that the user in question was originally set up
as "charlie", and then later changed their user account name (to tuser).
Now, while doing that allows them to change their logon name, it does NOT
change the user account folder name. That cannot be changed. To do so
requires that a new account with the preferred name be created, then the
older user profile be copied into it.
