Default save as .doc keeps reverting back to .docx

Everytime I modify the deafult save options to .doc, it reverts back to .docx
when the app is restarted. Im not aware of a patch to fix this. Any ideas?

Could be a problem with the DATA key. That's usually the cause of options not
being saved. You can try renaming it so that Word generates a new, default key
when you start it. Then test whether that retains the setting.
