Default printer/off-line printer

Hi!

I have a problem for about several weeks now. The problem is that windows doesn't seem to keep the default printer. It looks like when a user logges on and the default printer is off-line (which isn't the case, most of the time), it can not be set as the default printer.
Default printers are set by a Zen workstation policy.

We are using Windows XP SP1 with a Netware 4.90.0.0 SP1a client installed. We are using NDPS as a way to provide the XP client with the drivers.

So, my questions are:
can an off-line printer be set as a default printer (automaticaly) via a policy?
when does XP set a printer off-line?
how can I prevent windows from setting a printer off-line?

I would appreciate any help at all on this matter.

Many thanks in advance.

Cant answer all your questions but,

Printers are usually set as offline if windows cannot comunicate with them, or the printer responds with 'Im offline' when asked. Is the printer shared via NDS or is it a TCP/IP printer, if IP then it usually means that the public snmp is not available.
