Default Mail Client not properly Installed? (Vista Ultimate 64)

Running Vista Ultimate 64.
I clicked on a simply Mailto: tag and I get the error message saying
"Could not perform this operation because the default mail client it not
properly installed."
I am using Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 and it IS installed properly.
I checked the Set Default Programs applet and Thunderbird appears to be
set as the default mail and news handler.
 
The newsgroup to which you posted is dedicated to supporting the
Windows Mail program.
Yours is a Thunderbird issue (failing to register itself properly with Vista),
so it's not clear why you are asking in the Windows Mail program forum.
I suggest posting that issue in a Thunderbird forum.
