The default font designated at Tools>Options>General>Standard Font will be
applied to all New workbooks.
If you are opening a previously saved workbook, the settings that were in
place when saved will be shown for that workbook.
If you are changing to Arial Font and New workbooks are coming up in MS Sans
Serif, you may be having a problem saving this setting to the Registry.
Assuming you are aware of the precautions taken when editing the
Registry and know how to restore a recent backup of same.......
If not, maybe have a look here first...scroll down to "Registry
editing tips"
http://www.activewin.com/tips/reg/index.shtml
Reading done..............
Go to Start>Run enter "regedit"(no quotes) Run.
Check the settings at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\XX.0\Excel\Options
XX is your version of Excel...8,9,10,11
In the Options window you will see Font. Check what it is.
Close out and change Standard Font settings in Excel. Close Excel and re-open
the Registry. What now is the setting for Font?
If not what you designated, you have a Registry problem and need to run the
Policy Editor for Windows 98 to give yourself permission to save to the
Registry.
