Default Email program problems with outlook

I am trying to get outlook express to stay as the default email program but
everytime I open outlook 2003 it automatically changes that to default
without asking. No matter what I do it keeps taking over. I check and
outlook isn't set as the default under options.

Hi Nathan,

in the Internet Explorer you must change the deault email client top Outlook
Express.

So, when you open Outlook, how do you know it's becoming the default mail
program? OE is still listed as default in internet options/programs, right?
What symptoms are you seeing?

I know outlook is becoming the default program by a couple different things.
First of all in winxp the default email program shows up on the start menu,
also whenever I try to right click on a file to email and hit send to, it
opens up outlook, when I open outlook express and I go to options, the button
to click set as default is available to click.

Everytime I try to set that, it still comes back as outlook as the default.
