Default email and internet explorer programs.

I want Outlook Express and Internet Explorer to be my default programs for
email and internet but everytime I start them I am told that they are not my
default programs and would I like to set them as default to which I respond
yes but the next time I open them I get the same message over and over.

I have also tried setting the program defaults in add/remove programs (set
program defaults)

Anyone know the answer?

Hi Jonesy ... Try this , Open your Internet Explorer , click tools , then
internet options , highlight Programs Tab , Add a check mark on " Internet
Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser

Then try your suggestion and see whether it will work

Then our CrystalBalls were tuned to different wavelengths, O Cajun Queen.
OP asked how to make OE and IE the default Mail Client and Browser,
respectively. My #1 link addresses the former and, as OP had set IE as the
default in Program Access and Defaults with no joy, I surmised that my #2
link might address her problem with the latter.

As an added bonus, in fact, http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx (in my #2) and
the KB article I cited does indeed address "[getting] mailto hyperlinks in
IE to open OE, when I click them".

You are right, Bear. Thinking about going fishing myself.

I live next to a tidal river ie flows both ways twice/day. Anyhow, fish
from the ocean swim up it to spawn, different breeds different months.
Pretty interesting as if you taste the water it never tastes salty but
you can catch salt water fish in it almost year round. Even blue crabs
at the right time of the year.
