Default e-mail and clicking links

Although I have set Windows Mail as my default, if I click on an e-mail
address (link), or click a file and then select send, my system looks for
either OUTLOOK or another e-mail program, and hangs....

Have I missed something, or is this the reality I have to live with.

I suspect that next month, I'll end up purchasing Outlook 2007 to go with
the rest of my MS office package.... unless...?????

I read some other files, and discovered my own solution... Everything is fine
NOW... BUT, I would like some input... Especially relative to limited
calendar function. Do I upgrade to Outlook 2007? What would be the benefits???

I need a non-vendor's reply!!
Thanks
