Default Dictionary in 2000

I know this is an old problem because I've had the problem since I bought
Office 2000! I see it in the archives here but none of the solutions have
worked for me. I am running on XP-Pro and have changed all the language
settings to English-Canada, in both Windows and in Word. I have been through
the HUGE list of things to check and change in
http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm. I have even put my
settings so that Word asks me if I want to save Normal.dot when it exits, to
make sure it is saving the default language change. And STILL it defaults
back to English-US!!! This is driving me nuts!!! What is Microsoft's problem
that it can't accept that not everyone wants to use US English??? Sorry for
the rant, but I'm really sick of this. Can someone PLEASE help me with this?
Thank you!

I found the answer!!!!! I had done everything right EXCEPT that in "Regional
and Language Options" (XP-Pro Control Panel), you have to click the tab for
Languages and then click DETAILS for "Text Services and Input Languages."
Highlight the English-US and click REMOVE, leaving the English-Canada. Then
click Apply. It works!! Yay!!!! (But holy macintosh, what a long arduous
process you have to go through to get rid of the US-English!) Anyway, I
thought I'd post the answer for others who are having this problem. Good luck
to all!
