Default Browsers and Outlook 2007 Beta

I know this has been asked several times already but I've yet to see anybody
actually answer it...

I have IE, Netscape and Firefox installed on my PC. Firefox is set to the
default browser, the others are just for testing websites which I
occasionally design.

When clicking a link in Outlook 2007 beta, IE starts up. Nothing appears in
the IE window and then the link I am trying to open appears in Firefox.

Any idea how I can stop IE from starting up?

Many thanks in advance

Since installing the IE 7 beta causes the same issue in Outlook 2003 and
Outlook Express it's pretty obvious that Microsoft's strategy for killing
Firefox is not by making a better browser but by making using Firefox (or any
other browser) as painful as possible. This is not an oversight or bug, it's
a deliberate and beligerent action on their part.

I *was* an MS Office fan and not normally an MS basher but this really
pisses me off. Every other app on my machine manages to see Firefox as my
default browser (including Outlook 2003.)

I hope someone starts a class action lawsuit.

I'm using Firefox and when I click a link in the message reading pane it
launches in a Firefox tab. Not sure what you are doing differently.

Sorry for responding to a dormant thread, but I found this discussion
while searching around on how to get Outlook 2007 to open links into
Firefox.

I had been having the problem of OL07 launching MSIE even though
Firefox was set as my default browser.

The solution: Set MSIE as my default browser, and then reset Firefox as
default.

Miketheactuary, thank you for the tip, but it is still not working for me.
Maybe I don't understand your instructions.

Firefox is set as my default browser. Before installing Office 2007 beta,
clickable links in email opened Firefox. Since installing Office 2007 all
email links open with IE, even though Firefox is still set as my default
browser. Can you tell me how exactly to "set MSIE as default, then set
Firefox as default" since doing it the way I am is not working?

Thanks very much in advance, mike or anyone else who can help me. It has
been very frustrating.

Sometimes Windows gets confused and you need to reset the defaults - Go into
IE's tools, options, click reset web settings - then open firefox and set it
as default.

Thanks, but it still didn't work. Did just what you said to do. Clicking
links from non-MS Office applications opens Firefox, but Office applications
seem to be hard-wired to only open IE. Can't come up with any other way of
solving it, so I may have to uninstall Office 2007. I don't know how other
people have managed to use Firefox with Office 2007.

Check the link on my B2TR issues page related to this Firefox issue.
