Default Area Code

I just trashed my old computers and installed Office 2000
on two new Windows XP Pro computers. One of them works
fine but mine (of course), is acting funny. In the past
and on the other computer, if I omit the area code when I
am adding a new contact's phone number, it automatically
puts in the local area code. On my computer, it assumes
it is an international phone number. How do I correct
this?

Options?
