does anyone know why some word files that were sent to floppy disk from
windows me, are now encrypted ? i've tried everything to decrypt them but
still cant read them. I'm a new user to xp.
help!

Are you sure they're encrypted, or (more likely) the
cheesy floppy disk just can't be read at all?

This now happens with annoying regularity-quality
control for both FD drives and disks is now non-existent.

Try reading it in a different drive if possible.

Are you the administrator?.

Open Windows Explorer>Right-click the encrypted file or folder, and then
click Properties. >On the General tab, click Advanced. >Clear the
Encrypt contents to secure data check box.

When you decrypt a folder, you are asked if you want all files and
subfolders within the folder to be decrypted as well. If you choose to
decrypt the folder only, the encrypted files and folders within the
decrypted folder remain encrypted. However, new files and folder that
you create within the decrypted folder will not be automatically encrypted.
