decoding a document

Could someone tell me how to decode a document. I saved a document into word
and when I tried to retrieve it, it is all coded. I can't figure out why
this happened but I really need someone's help?

If by "decode" you mean that you are seeing things like this:
{ STYLEREF "Heading 1" \* MERGEFORMAT } or { PAGE }, then you have somehow
turned on the option to view Word's field codes.

On the Tools menu, choose Options then the View tab, and if the "Field
codes" option is checked, clear it.

If this is not what you mean, then you will have to explain what you are
seeing.
