A while ago, someone here said that a decimal tab will align on a
comma if no period is available.

I'm trying it in table columns, and it doesn't do anything at all!

It will align on a comma if a comma is your decimal separator (as in some
European countries for example) otherwise not. It will also align on certain
other characters eg colon, semi colon, question mark, exclamation mark etc.

Ok, semicolon worked. Thank you. How odd!

It will also align on whole numbers if you set the decmal tab to align after
the last figure (ie where the decimal point would be if there was one).

It certainly seems to work for me, assuming that there are no other
characters in the cell except the separator and the number.

If there are no other characters, it kind of defeats the purpose ...
turns out semicolon works -- except when there's a letter adjacent. I
was doing Opus and Number of Schumann's Lieder, and with Op. 98a, it's
the a that lines up with all the other semilcolons.
