Hi,

I have two PCc, both having NICs, one Realtek and one Intel.
Connecting both using cross over cable. Both have IPs 192.168.1.1 and
192.168.1.2 resp. with subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Both PCs have common workgroup named LOCAL. Both can see each other
but the connection is amazingly slow and files are not getting coppied
from one to the other, it says connection to host \\xyz does not
exist.

Any pointers/help appreciated.

Thanks,
ManasR

If you have 10/100-Base-T cards in either computer, they sometimes do
not do a good job of auto-detecting the network speed settings. Try
going to the network control panel (or device manager-->network
adapters) and manually set the speed/duplex the same for both ends of
the connection.

HTH,
John
