Dear Microsoft...

- Can I have a Operating System that doesn't crash when an application crashes?
- Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows not to play my audio message for
new email, when I am listening to music.
- Can I have an Operating System that protects me from spyware.
- Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows when my web browser is being
redirected to an evil web site that is trying to steal my credit card or personal infomation.
- Can I have an Operating System that tells me when a web site is trying to install (any) software
on my computer, that I may or may not want installed.
- Can I have an Operating System that has an audio interface that I can talk to,
and ask to do things for me.
- Can I have an Operating System that my sister, who knows nothing about computers, can use and
operate, without having to call me every other day, so I can tell her how it works.
- Can I have a PC (and Operating System) that boots up, completely, and is ready to use, in
less than 20 seconds.
- Can I not not live in a 3rd world country, and have an Full Featured Operating System,
that doesn't cost $199.00.

I know these things are a lot to ask, but please consider them, for your next version of Windows.

:- Can I have a Operating System that doesn't crash when an application

Why don't you get applications that don't crash?

: - Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows not to play my audio message
for
: new email, when I am listening to music.

No.

: - Can I have an Operating System that protects me from spyware.

No, but there are applications out there that will.

: - Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows when my web browser is being
: redirected to an evil web site that is trying to steal my credit card or
personal infomation.

No, but you can stop going to dodgy sites.

: - Can I have an Operating System that tells me when a web site is trying
to install (any) software
: on my computer, that I may or may not want installed.

IE does that.

: - Can I have an Operating System that has an audio interface that I can
talk to,
: and ask to do things for me.

Not yet but you will.

: - Can I have an Operating System that my sister, who knows nothing about
computers, can use and
: operate, without having to call me every other day, so I can tell her how
it works.

OS' can't do much about dumb sisters.

: - Can I have a PC (and Operating System) that boots up, completely, and is
ready to use, in
: less than 20 seconds.

Mine boots up in 40 seconds, not fast enough for you?

: - Can I not not live in a 3rd world country, and have an Full Featured
Operating System,
: that doesn't cost $199.00.

I paid a lot less for my XP Home and Pro than that. You're shopping at the
wrong store.

next version of Windows.

Microsoft doesn't read this newsgroup.

Do a little reading, and put in a little effort !

....I, ...myself, ....asked for XP to be fitted with a "clairvoyance
algorithm" only the day before yesterday !

"> - Can I not not live in a 3rd world country, and have an Full Featured
Operating System,
that doesn't cost $199.00."

.....I assume you're sort of asking this on behalf of people that actually
live in 3rd world countries, which is, in a way, a thoughtless and stupid
thing to do.

Tiny correction:
: - Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows not to play my audio message
for
: new email, when I am listening to music.

No.

Well, Yes. In OE (if that's what's being used) Tools > Options > General.
Turn off the notification from there.
(Granted, OE isn't the Operating System but ...hey!)

Colin.

- Can I have a Operating System that doesn't crash when an application crashes?

Yes. It's callled Windows XP. Perhaps you've heard of it?
- Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows not to play my audio message for
new email, when I am listening to music.

Um, try turning off the new message audio notice?
- Can I have an Operating System that protects me from spyware.

The OS shouldn't have to protect you from your stupidity in installing
spyware. Watch what YOU are doing yourself.
- Can I have an Operating Sytem that knows when my web browser is being
redirected to an evil web site that is trying to steal my credit card or personal infomation.

See above
- Can I have an Operating System that tells me when a web site is trying to install (any) software
on my computer, that I may or may not want installed.

Agan, see above
- Can I have an Operating System that has an audio interface that I can talk to,
and ask to do things for me.

MS just didn't build this into the OS. Do you know a computer OS,
other than on Star Trek, where this is provided (other than a thrid
party add-on, which does exist).
- Can I have an Operating System that my sister, who knows nothing about computers, can use and
operate, without having to call me every other day, so I can tell her how it works.

Yes - Windows XP Home fits the bill for the novice.
- Can I have a PC (and Operating System) that boots up, completely, and is ready to use, in
less than 20 seconds.

Sure. Windows XP does that pretty well.
- Can I not not live in a 3rd world country, and have an Full Featured Operating System,
that doesn't cost $199.00.

Hunt around. You can find it, retail, cheaper than that.
I know these things are a lot to ask, but please consider them, for your next version of Windows.

Almost everything you ask already exists.
