Dead PSU?

I just built a computer with:

Antec Overture II Case
ASus A8N-E Motherboard
XFX 4600GT VideoCard
2 Ghz of 1Ghz Sticks, DDR 400
AMD X2 4400+

Ok, so I plug it in and the green light on the MB and the fans go for a
split second then nothing. The power button does nothing. It just
flashes for that split second when I plug it in. There is no switch
for this PSU. The light is off while plugged in on the MB.

PS is prob. OK try with an absolute minimum hardware configuration...
and if it works...start adding components.

It may be as simple as a misplaced powerlead to the floppy drive (if you
have one)

Nothing is plugged in excep CPU and memory right now, still no luck...
or w/ Video card. There is nothing that isn't required plugged in.

Ok I tried it w/ a second PSU. this one was a 20 pinner into a 24 pin
motherboard, but the pins still lined up and it did the SAME thing so
Im' pretty sure it's the motherboard. :/

Heck, before you condemn the mobo...at least use the 24 pin powersupply

I was able to use a paperclip to get the PSU to turn on, and used a
voltmeter, after obtaining the specs it should fall under. It met
every 3.3, 5v, and 12v spec.

don't know how many exceptions there are...
but many 24 pin motherboards *require* a 24 pin supply

yah, but the green light should come on w/o a 24 pin supply because it
is the second from the bottom on a normal 20 pin supply, and the only
difference between a 20 pin and a 24 is that the 24 pin has an extra
ground and 5v/12v leads

Have you measured the +5VSB line on the ATX power connector?
