DEACTIVATED ITEMS IN MS ANTI SPYWARE

P

PHYSGUY

In MS Antispyware folder in Program files in windows 2000,
there is a directory Deactivated items, It has about 9000
plus deactivated items. The seem to be caught in AVG
antispyware as infected items. The AVG runs excruciatingly
slow.
This also slows exiting out of AVG and the the rest of the
programs.
I have dared to delete the files from the directory but
was hopelessly caught as some frozen error. I could
probably "Heal" only one file from the bunch. These are
small file 51 bytes (kilo?).
I have a feeling this is creating a bottleneck for the
computer. The AVG scan itself takes 6-7 hours (I started
the scan in the night.)
Please help how I can mitigate-eliminate this nightmare.
Thanks for any help with the "Deactivated" items.
