Can anyone in here give me advise on why a windows2000 system won't run disk
defrag?

Depends - Can you be more specific to won't run disk
defrag. Are your receiving an error? Is it not an option
under tools? And so forth

Do you have at least 15% free hard drive space? That is a
requirement to run a full defrag.

No, I do not get an error message, it just seems to be
stuck on Analyzing...... its been running for several
hours. I have plenty of room on the hard drive, only
using about 10% of it. Any other suggestions?

You might want to run chkdsk /r (requires reboot), then try DeFrag again.

shutting down any open applications.
