DDR2 vs DDR?

I'm curious if anyone has had the experience of comparing DDR and
DDR2, and what differences existed. I've browsed tomshardware and
anandtech, but found only an old DDR vs DDR2 comparison. It seems
like the latencies of DDR are much better than that of DDR2, but DDR2
has "double" the data rate of DDR... but i'm not sure how these two
quantities play off each other in terms of realizable performance.
I'm going to use Linux for scientific computing applications and
Matlab.

Also, are there any motherboards that support DDR2, P4-HT, and AGP?

Regards,

No such board. If the board supports DDR2 (using the Intel 925 chipset)
then it MUST use the new PCI-e instead of AGP.

I found one: the ECS 915P-A supports AGP and PCI-Express.
