I am building a server to perform DNS serices for clients
at a small office. I have DHCP assinging a range of IP
addresses from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.200. When running
dcpromo when you are prompted to install DNS services. My
question is. Before this do I have to configure my
Network Adapter's DNS field with a designated IP address
from my private address range example 192.168.0.1 or do I
need to put the IP address of the DNS server of my ISP. I
seem to be having problems resolving when I use the
192.168.0.1 address. Please explain to me the process u
would use to configure DNS.

Thankyou

In an AD domain you must use the local DNS that hosts the zone for the AD
domain, which is usually the DC.
If the local DNS cannot resolve internet names it is usually because it has
a root "." forward lookup zone. Delete that zone, then you can enable a
forwarder to your ISP (Forwarders tab) as an option.

Install DNS first. Point the server only to itself for DNS. Make sure that you do not have a forward lookup zone named "." root.
You shouldn't have any problems with DC promo in this configuration.

Thank you,
